1. GEMMOLOGY TRAINING CERTIFIED WITH AN INTERNATIONAL FGA DIPLOMA
Objectives: in-depth study of gemstones. The training is made up of a basic course, a diploma course and practical work. Here are the topics raised during the training:
- optical and physical properties of gemstones;
- natural inorganic gems;
- artificial and synthetic gems;
- imitations ;
- organic gems;
- treated gems
Certification : Diploma of Gemmology FGA (FELLOW of the GEMMOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION) issued by Gem-A of London
This is a world-recognized diploma

2. GEMMOLOGY TRAINING CERTIFIED WITH AN IGM DIPLOMA
Distance course
Objectives: distance learning certified with a gemmology diploma issued by IGM, composed of thorough theoretical courses on the properties of common gemstones existing in the gem-market of the stones in Madagascar. This course allows those who do not have much time to follow the FGA -training course and the in-depth gemmology training course.

Duration: 2 years Schedule: 5 days of regrouping every three months (one week blocked) Qualifications required: holder of baccalaureate, no age limit Number of participants : limited to 10 Teaching Language and course materials: French

3. GEMMOLOGY TECHNICIAN
Objectives: study centred on the practical aspect of gemmology, including the study of the stones (natural, artificial, synthetic, and treated) frequently met in the local and international markets. This course also deals with the rare gems existing in Madagascar. It includes five modules:
- module 1: PRACTICAL GEMMOLOGY - 2 weeks
- module 2: ADVANCED PRACTICAL GEMMOLOGY - 2 weeks
- module 3: GRADATION OF ROUGH STONES AND CABOCHON - 1 week
- module 4: GRADATION AND VALUATION OF FACETED STONES - 1 week
- module 5: PRACTICAL IN LABORATORY
Certification : Diploma of Technician in Gemmology
Duration: 3 months Qualifications required: holder of baccalaureate, no age limit Number of participants : limited to 18 Teaching Language : French
4. PRACTICAL GEMMOLOGY
Objectives: study centred on the practical aspect of gemmology
- To understand the principles of gemmology;
- To learn the techniques of the identification of rough and cut gems using adequate materials;
- To familiarize with the gems met in the local markets.
Certification : Certificate in practical gemmology
Duration: Daytime course - 2 weeks (6 hours per day) Evening course - 6 weeks (2 hours per day) Qualifications required: knowledge of French or English Number of participants : limited to 20 Teaching Language: French, English (once per annum in July)
5. SPECIALISED
PRACTICAL GEMMOLOGY
Objectives: study underlining a family of gemstones, such as corundum, while approaching
- The characteristics of the family;
- The imitations ;
- The treatments;
- The synthetics
or on one or more specific properties of gems such as "INCLUSION"

6. GEMMOLOGY JUNIOR
Objectives: - to make young people aware and stimulate them to have a flair and appreciation for the gems; - discovery of the diversity, origins, and possibilities of transformation of gemstones; - observation of various optical characteristics of the gems (lustre, colour, transparency) familiarisation with the techniques of identification.
